Reference Description

The borders of the Bee-Nest carpet are decorated with big stylized bee images. The composition of the carpet includes the central medallion with the cross-shaped branches covered with flowers, which symbolizes the life and fertility.
The field of the carpet represents a large selection of small patterns. Through the inexhaustible imagination of the female carpet weaver, colorful horsemen, people, birds and animals impart the carpet a festive mood. The ornaments of the carpet express the richness of festive life and the advanced level of apiculture in Armenia.
The Bee-Nest Carpet woven in late 19th century in Artsakh region is kept in the History Museum of Armenia (HMA collection № 7738).
