Caucasian Owl is a rare and relic species for the Armenian fauna. It dwells in the mixed, oak-dominated forests of the Khosrov river valley.
The number of Caucasian Owl is strictly limited and makes up several nesting couples in all.
Protection of this species is fixed in the Armenian hunting legislation and is organized within the territory of the Khosrov reserve.
