This silver commemorative coin with nominal value Dram 100, issued by the Central Bank of Armenia, is dedicated to Franz Beckenbauer.
The coin has been issued under the International Program “The Kings of Football”.
Franz Beckenbauer (born 11 September 1945) is a former German football player nicknamed " der Kaiser" (the Emperor) because of his elegant style, leadership qualities and dominance on the football pitch. He was twice selected the European Footballer of the Year. With the club Bayern Munich, he won three European Cups (1974-1976) and the Cup Winners' Cup (1967). Beckenbauer appeared 103 times for West Germany and played in three World Cups winning it twice - in 1974 and 1990.
Beckenbauer is regarded as the greatest German footballer of all time.
