Reference Description
The Kecharis monastery complex was an outstanding spiritual, cultural and educational center in medieval Armenia. It is located in Tsaghkadzor town of Kotayk Province. The complex includes the St Gregory the Illuminator, St Nshan, Katoghike and St Harutyun Churches. St Gregory the Illuminator Church is the central one of the complex which was built by Grigor Magistros in 1033. In 2000 the Kecharis Church was re-anointed to become the principal of the Kotayk diocese.
