Notes
The coin commemorates the 25th anniversary of the liberation of Shushi, a significant cultural and strategic center in the Republic of Artsakh. Originally part of historical Great Armenia, Shushi was handed over to Azerbaijan by Soviet authorities in 1921. This led to decades of ethnic tension and ultimately the struggle for liberation. On May 9, 1992, Armenian self-defense forces, led by A. Ter-Tadevosyan, reclaimed the town. Shushi has been a cradle of Armenian culture, contributing significantly to fields like architecture, printing, and art.
