Reference Description

The Life Tree carpet is characterized with the richness of versions, which are mainly represented in the form of the medallions’ regular row covering the entire carpet.
The carpet field consists of ornamental combination of skew bands. In the center of the carpet are diamond-shaped medallions with the tree of life inside which is decorated with buds and stylized fruit. The wall-shaped crenellated border consists of cross-like small patterns. A row of animal-shaped buds stretches to the center.
The ornamental band has a chain-shaped, ringed structure typical to cross-stones.
The Life Tree Carpet woven in late 19th century in Artsakh region is kept in the History Museum of Armenia (HMA collection № 11601-2).
