Reference Description
Obverse: A symbolic representation of medical progress and dedication. A detailed hand holds an anatomically accurate human heart, signifying healing and surgical expertise. Below, stylized mountains with grapevines and pomegranates represent Armenia’s rich cultural and natural heritage. The inscription in Russian reads: "ЛЕЧИТЬ УЧИТЬ ИСКАТЬ ВНЕДРЯТЬ" ("To Heal, To Teach, To Seek, To Implement"), encapsulating the institution’s mission.
Reverse: A composition emphasizing surgical science and medical research. The center features a Rod of Asclepius, the universal symbol of medicine, crossed with a surgical scalpel. Surrounding it is an ornate vine pattern, indicative of growth and knowledge. The Russian inscription reads: "ЕРЕВАНСКИЙ ФИЛИАЛ ВСЕСОЮЗНОГО НАУЧНОГО ЦЕНТРА ХИРУРГИИ ФМН СССР" ("Yerevan Branch of the All-Union Scientific Center of Surgery, Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR").
