This commemorative coin issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia is devoted to the Armenian King - Tigran the Great. The king Tigran the Great (95-55 B.C.) was a representative of the Artashesyan Kingdom and did much for the strengthening of Armenian statehood. During the reign of Tigran the Great honoured with title "the King of Kings", Armenia became one of the most powerful and developted states in the region. This coin is designed and shaped as a copy of the silver Tigran the Great tetradrachm, yet the observe of it bears official inscriptions.
