NAZARET TAGHAVARYAN (Nazaret Chatrchyan, 1862-1915) is an Armenian public figure, a well-known agronomist, physician and naturalist. Taghavaryan received primary education in Constantinople and agricultural colleges in France. graduated from the Sorbonne University, the Natural and Medical Science departments, with the degree in Doctor of Medicine. In 1904, he was awarded the title of Honorary Member of the French Astronomical Society, and in 1909, the title Knight of Agricultural Merit awarded by the Agricultural Ministry of France. Taghavaryan founded the first Armenian natural journal, The Scientific Movement. is the author of numerous works in the field of natural science, agriculture, astronomy, medicine and historiography.
A victim of the Armenian Genocide in 1915: martyred during deportation, on the road to Urfa, Turkey.
