The Izmit (Nicomedia) St. Nicholas Church, also known as the Surp Nigoğayos Armenian Church, is a historic Armenian church located in the city of Izmit in Turkey. It was built in the early 19th century by the prominent Armenian architect Minas Minasyan. The church was constructed by the Armenian community in the area, which had a significant presence in Izmit during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Following the Armenian Genocide in 1915, the church was abandoned and fell into disrepair. In the 1990s, the Armenian community in Turkey began efforts to restore the church and preserve its historic and cultural significance. In 2005, the church was reopened for worship, marking a significant milestone in the restoration project.
