Reference Description

Obverse: A crowned double-headed eagle, symbolizing the Russian Empire, overpowering a Persian lion, representing Qajar Iran. Rays of the rising sun emanate in the background, signifying the dawn of Russian control over Yerevan. The inscription at the bottom reads "ЕРИВАНЬ ВЗЯТА 1ГО ОКТЯБРЯ 1827," translating to "Yerevan taken on October 1, 1827."

Reverse: A commemorative inscription honoring the reign of Emperor Nicholas I, marking the striking of this medal in Tabriz during the Russian military occupation. The inscription reads: "ВЪ ЦАРСТВОВАНIЕ ИМПЕРАТОРА НИКОЛАЯ IГО ЧЕКАНЕНО ВЪ ТАВРИЗЂ ВО ВРЕМЯ ПРЕБЫВАНIЯ РОССIЙСКИХЪ ВОЙСКЪ 6ГО ДЕКАБРЯ 1827," which translates to "During the reign of Emperor Nicholas I, struck in Tabriz during the presence of Russian troops, December 6, 1827."
