Reference Description

This silver commemorative coin depicting Scorpio has been issued by the Central Bank of Armenia under the International Program “The Signs of Zodiac”. Scorpio is a southern constellation north of Ophiuchus. It is the eighth sign of Zodiac. According to Greek mythology Orion was Artemis’s favored hunting partner, which made her brother Apollo very envious. Apollo pleaded to Gaea to create a giant scorpion, who could sting Orion. Gera obliged, and the scorpion killed great Orion. In remembrance of this struggle Zeus placed Orion and the scorpion amongst the stars.
The astrological period called Scorpio takes the period from October 24 to November 22.
