This “Ascension” silver collector coin has been issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia as part of the international coin program Gospel Scenes in Armenian Miniatures.
Ascension is Jesus Christ’s ascent into heaven, to the Heavenly Father, after his resurrection and appearing to the disciples, taking several days of walk with them and giving commandments to them. In this scene Jesus Christ is depicted in an oviform halo, blessing the followers with his right hand while keeping a book or roll in left hand. Two or four angels are taking the halo into the heaven.
The event of Ascension signifies glorious ending of Jesus Christ’s mission on earth.
The coin issued with colored inks. Designed by Haroutiun Samuelian. Minted in the Mint of Finland.
