This silver commemorative coin with nominal value Dram 100, issued by the Central Bank of Armenia, is dedicated to Teodor Axentowicz, the Polish painter of Armenian origin. The coin has been issued under the International Numismatic Program “The Painters of the World”. Teodor Axentowicz (1859 - 1938) was born in the family descended from the Ter-Axent Armenian dynasty. He got his professional education in Munich, later in Paris. Since 1897 he lived in Cracow and headed the Cracow Academy of Arts. He was involved in social activity and took an active part in the cultural life of Poland. During his lifetime he held a number of individual exhibitions in different countries. Axentowicz’s paintings are exhibited in the major and well-known art galleries and museums of the world and in private collections. One of the squares in Cracow is named in honor of Teodor Axentowicz. The coin issued with colored inks. Designed by Urszula Walerzak. Minted in the Mint of Poland.
