The “Judo” silver coin has been issued by the Central Bank of Armenia under the international numismatic program “Art of Fighting”.
Judo (“The Gentle Way”) is a Japanese martial art based on the ancient techniques of Jiu-Jitsu. It was developed by professor Jigoro Kano in 1882. In 1964 it became the first martial art having a status of medal sport in the Olympic Games. Many people in the world practice Judo as exercise or self-defense: for many of them Judo becomes just a way of life.
