Reference Description
Goshavank is a monastery complex which is located in Gosh village of Tavoush Province. It was a major, spiritual, cultural and educational center in 12-13 centuries. The name of Goshavank came in honor of an outstanding scientist, fabulist and pedagogue Mkhitar Gosh who founded the monastery in 1188. The church Mother of God, the main building in the complex, was built in 1191-1196. The complex includes the St Gregory and S.t Gregory the Illuminator churches, a church porch, two chapels and a two-storey scriptorium-bell tower.
