This silver collector coin has been issued by the Central bank of Armenia under the international numismatic program “Famous Directors of the World” is dedicated to Sergei Parajanov.
Sergei Parajanov (Sargis Parajanyants, 1924 - 1990) is a famous film director, artist, master of collage. He is a director and script writer of more than 20 full-length and documentary films. As a creative principle of cinematography he has broadly used collage and named this genre of art “compressed film”. His works are nearly 1400 in number and include collages, drawings, assemblages, dolls, hats, which are exhibited in the Sergei Parajanov Museum in Yerevan.
