Reference Description
The name of this carpet comes from Proshaberd fortress in Syunik region, one of the carpet-weaving centers in Armenia.
The composition of the carpet consists of three polyhedral medallions, which are notable for a saturated color palette. The cross-like ornaments in the center of the medallions are linked with the radiating patterns found on eagle carpets.
The artistic expression on this carpet includes a clay-colored palette and a rhythmic composition of small patterns on the ornamental band the elements of which are made in line with the traditions of pottery art.
The Proshaberd Carpet woven in late 19th century in Vayots Dzor region is kept in the History Museum of Armenia (HMA collection № 10693).
