Reference Description

The name of Vorotan carpet comes from the village of the same name in the Syunik region, one of the popular carpet-weaving centers in Armenia.
Three compositions with dragon-shaped signs are arranged along the entire carpet. The field of this carpet is filled with small hooked patterns. The edge of the carpet formed by arrow-shaped ram patterns emphasizes the mythological meaning of the central design.
The carpet is woven in saturated colors typical for the Armenian ancient and medieval applied arts.
The Vorotan Carpet woven in the middle of the 19th century in Syunik region is kept in the History Museum of Armenia (HMA collection № 9009).
