Reference Description
Konstantinos Senacherim, kouropalates and doux, circa 1070-1090. Seal (Lead, 18 mm, 7.26 g, 12 h). M/I-X/A Nimbate facing bust of St. Michael, wearing loros, holding scepter in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left. Rev. CΦPA[ΓIC] / KⲰN K૪PO/ΠAΛAT૪ S Δ૪K, TⲰ CЄ/NAXЄPIM in five lines, cross above and decoration below. Apparently unpublished, but cf. Cheynet in SBS IX, p. 223 and W. Seibt: The Sons of Senek'erim Yovhannēs, the Last King of Vaspurakan, as Byzantine Aristocrats, in: Revue des Études Arméniennes 37 (2016-2017), p. 119-133, p. 12 (for a seal of Konstantinos Senacherim, kouropalates and doux, but with an image of the Mother of God Episkepsis on the obverse). Rough surfaces, otherwise, very fine.
Konstantinos was an Armenian prince and one of the sons of Senek'erim Yovhannēs (Sennacherib-John), the last Artsruni King of the small Kingdom of Vaspurakan, located to the south and southeast of lake Van.
