Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky (1817–1900), born Hovhannes Aivazian in the Armenian community of Feodosia (Crimea), was one of the most celebrated maritime painters in history. Known for his dramatic and vivid seascapes, Aivazovsky's works often depicted the power and beauty of the sea. Over his lifetime, he created more than 6,000 paintings, earning international acclaim. Aivazovsky also contributed significantly to his hometown, funding schools, museums, and other cultural institutions in Feodosia.
