Notes
This coin celebrates the 100th anniversary of Gohar Gasparyan (1924–2007), Armenia’s most revered opera singer. Born in Cairo, Gasparyan began her career in Egypt before moving to Armenia in 1948. Known as “The Nightingale of Armenia,” her illustrious career included lead roles in 23 operas and over 500 compositions. Gasparyan performed on prestigious stages worldwide, including Carnegie Hall and the Bolshoi Theatre, and taught at the Komitas State Conservatory. The coin was issued by the Central Bank of Armenia and minted in Poland, as Armenia does not have its own minting facilities.
