Obverse: Profile bust of Emperor Alexander III, facing left, with a full beard. Around the portrait, the inscription reads: "Б. М. АЛЕКСАНДРЪ III ИМПЕРАТОРЪ И САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ ВСЕРОСС." (By the Grace of God, Alexander III, Emperor and Autocrat of All Russia). Below the bust, the engraver’s name: "Л . ШТЕЙНМАНЪ P." (L. Shteinman fecit).
Reverse: Inscription in six lines: "ОТЪ ЛАЗАРЕВСКАГО ИНСТИТУТА ВОСТОЧНЫХЪ ЯЗЫКОВЪ ЗА БЛАГОНРАВIЕ И УСПЂХИ." (From the Lazarev Institute of Oriental Languages for Good Conduct and Achievements).
