Obverse: A right-facing bust of Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky, depicted with a full beard and wearing formal attire. Around the upper edge, the inscription reads "ПРОФЕССОРУ ЖИВОПИСИ И. К. АЙВАЗОВСКОМУ," which translates to "To Professor of Painting I. K. Aivazovsky." Below, the artist’s signature "В. А." appears.

Reverse: A laurel wreath encircles a painter’s palette, symbolizing artistic achievement. The central inscription reads "1837-1887 26 СЕНТЯБРЯ," marking the 50-year anniversary of Aivazovsky’s career. Around the edge, the inscription "ОТЪ ИМПЕРАТОРСКОЙ АКАДЕМIИ ХУДОЖЕСТВЪ ВЪ ДЕНЬ 50 ЛЂТНЯГО ЮБИЛЕЯ" translates to "From the Imperial Academy of Arts on the 50th Anniversary."
