Notes
The centenary of the Armenian Genocide is symbolized through a flower Forget-me-not. The etymology of the name of the flower in different languages stands for the same meaning, "REMEMBER". The flower's five petals symbolize the five continents which were made home to those Armenians who survived the genocide and were deprived of the opportunity to live in their homeland. Dispersed throughout the word, they have eventually created a large Armenian Diaspora. Nowadays, people in the five continents condemn the genocide and voice I Remember and Demand.
The flower has four primary color components, each of which carries a particular meaning: the black symbolizes the memory of the Genocide, the light purple represents the idea of unification, the dark purple signifies the national identity and the yellow denotes the sunlight, which is source of life and creativity, shed on the 12 struts arranged in a circle to depict the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial.
