Grigor Zohrap (1861-1915) is a famous Armenian writer, publicist, jurist, social and political leader. He graduated from the French Institute of Constantinople, the Geometry and Law Science departments. Zohrap wrote poems, romances, reviews novels, etc. Practiced advocacy, including protection of Armenian political defendants published articles in the field of jurisprudence. In 1908, Zohrap was elected as a member the Turkish Parliament. Demonstrating an exceptional courage, Grigor Zohrap, as a civilian, wrote a memorandum to the Turkish prime minister, condemning the Adana massacre (in 1909) and demanding to end the Hamid methods of the Turkish government to the Armenians. Routinely he was talking against the Turkish genocidal policies.
