Reference Description
Obverse: Portrait of Vardan Mamikonian, the revered Armenian military commander and martyr of the Battle of Avarayr (451 AD). His helmet is adorned with an elaborate plume, symbolizing his bravery and leadership. The inscription reads Վ ՄԱՄԻԿՈՆՅԱՆ ("V. Mamikonian").
Reverse: Depicts a stylized sword surrounded by an ornate circular design, symbolizing strength and protection. The sword's hilt features intricate detailing, set against a radiating floral motif that evokes Armenian cultural and artistic traditions.

Vardan Mamikonian (387–451 AD) is one of the most celebrated figures in Armenian history, remembered as a military leader and a defender of the Christian faith. His leadership during the Battle of Avarayr, fought against the Sassanid Persian Empire, marked a pivotal moment in Armenia's struggle for religious and cultural independence. Despite being a military defeat, the battle symbolized a victory for the Armenian spirit, as it preserved the nation's Christian identity.
