The “Sorbus hajastana” silver collector coin has been issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia as part of the international coin program “The Beauty of Flowers”.
Sorbus hajastana is a beautiful shrub or tree with broadly-pyramidal crown and reddish-grey bark. It is 8-10 m. tall. Flowers are white, anthers pink. Fruits are large, shiny and crimson. Sorbus hajastana blooms in June, on rocky slopes and forest edges at 1600-2400 m. above sea level. In Armenia it is met in the basin of the Lake Sevan and at slopes of the mountain Arailer.
The coin issued with colored inks. Designed by Eduard Kurghinyan. Minted in the Mayer Mint, Germany.
