Obverse: Laureate bust of Emperor Nicholas I facing right, with the inscription "NICOLAUS I TOTIUS RUSSIAE IMPERATOR." Below the bust, the engraver's signature "G. LOOS DIR."
Reverse: Latin inscription within a laurel wreath commemorating two key events of the Russo-Turkish War of 1828–1829. The text reads: "ERZERO САРТО | D . XXVII JUN . | НАЕМО MONTE | TRANSITO | D . VIII JUL . ST . V . | MDCCCXXIX," which translates to "Capture of Erzurum, June 27, and the passage through the Balkans, July 8, 1829."
