74 - Armenian Moufflon - 100 dram 2008
Reference Description
This silver commemorative coin depicting Armenian Moufflon has been issued by the Central Bank of Armenia under the International Program “Wild World of Caucasus”. The Program includes animals that are protected under the Red Book of Armenia.
Armenian Moufflon is seen at the height of 800-3900 meters above sea level. For the most part of the year, domestic animals graze and drug plant is collected in the stations typical to Moufflon’s settlement, and this makes Moufflon resettle.
In recent years the number of Moufflon at the time of summer migrations within Armenia has not been exceeding 100 heads, and in winter time it reaches several tens of heads.
For preservation of Armenian Moufflon a special reproduction has been built in the Khosrov reserve where Moufflon is kept and reproduced.
Designed by Roussana and Andrzey Nowakowscy.
Minted in the Mint of Poland.
