This “Adoration of the Magi” silver collector coin has been issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia as part of the international coin program Gospel Scenes in Armenian Miniatures.
When Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem his star appeared bright in the sky to the East. Guided by the star, the magi came up to where the Child Jesus was. As they saw the newborn with his mother Mary they fell on their knees, paid worship and gave as present gold, incense and balm symbolizing, accordingly, the lordship of Jesus, his being of God and his passion, death and, finally, resurrection.
The coin issued with colored inks. Designed by Haroutiun Samuelian. Minted in the Mint of Finland.
